I have tried just about every classroom management strategy out there through the years. From names and checks on the board, to Love and Logic. All have been somewhat effective, but required a lot of effort to keep track of everything. ClassDojo.com has ended my search, and is the system that has solved most of my behavior problems.
ClassDojo is essentially a website that has all of my students on it with cute little avitars for each. If I observe good behavior I click on the name and award a point. If I see a bad behavior I select the student and give a negative point. Each time this is done it give an audio cue that lets students know and if the screen is being projected students can see what is awarded or if their is a problem. You can also award groups. If you are not sitting at the computer you can use a smart phone or iPad to control the system.
